The Titans Are Coming! Read Up on Calliope Games’ new Kickstarter Launching Tomorrow!

unnamedCalliope Games has announced that they will be launching their epic Titan Series on Kickstarter Tuesday, March 31st, at 7:00 PM PST/10:00 PM EST. The Titan Series is a project where Calliope has gathered some of the top game designers from around the world like Richard Garfield, Jordan Weisman, and James Ernest to design brand new, family-friendly tabletop games. If you support it you’ll be getting 9 games, released at 3 games a year.

jessm Jess: 3 years is a long time for a Kickstarter to run, but these game designers are sure to put out some quality stuff!

More designers will be added as stretch goals as the campaign progresses. So it will be interesting to see just how many games come out of this project. Calliope put together a few videos called Meet the Titans, which you can watch on Youtube to get more info on the designers.

“The games one describes as ‘gateway’ games are probably my favorite area of gaming.” says Titan designer Richard Garfield. “When people say ‘gateway’ and ‘filler’ games, oftentimes those terms don’t carry the depth of the love I have for that category and I think it underestimates their potential.”

Calliope gave some fans a special preview of the project and revised Titans based on their feedback to prepare it for Kickstarter.

“I’m extremely grateful to the community for providing their thoughts.” says Ray Wehrs, president of Calliope games. “We were able to make the Titan Series a better project because of their feedback. We want this project and these games to benefit the hobby as a whole, and there’s no better way to ensure that than by engaging gamers. Backers will be an integral part of the development process. From honing rules sets, to choosing themes and artwork and voting on game content and titles, they’ll be able to help shape the series every step of the way.”

jessm Jess: So what do you guys think? Will you be jumping up and down with excitement to join the Titan Project or do you have your own reservations about it?
