In space, when you ship is malfunctioning, everyone can hear you scream…
Spaceteam is a new card game based off of Henry Smith’s popular mobile app of the same title. Created by Mathew Sisson, Tommy West, Elan Lee (Creator of Exploding Kittens) the game makes players coordinate to help fix their spaceship before time runs out and they get sucked into a black hole.
The game is played in real time, with all players shouting back and forth to gather required tools and repair systems. Each person get a hand of unique tools that will be required to fix the ship.
Players will then draw malfunction cards and pass tools to solve the problem. The trick is: you cannot pass cards across the table, so you will have to send the desperately needed tool to your left or right and hope that it gets to the player who needs it. Once you fix enough, you will uncover the 6 hidden System-Go cards, thus getting you ship online, out of the black hole’s pull, and winning the game. While it sounds easy, you are going to be frantically yelling and passing in order to beat the clock and survive oncoming worm holes and asteroid fields.
*Panicked passing of cards ensues*
The Spaceteam card game looks like it is as faithful to the app as you can get and seeing how much we loved the app, I’m sure the game will be a riot. You can pledge $20 or more to get 1 Spaceteam deck or for $35 you can get a copy of Spaceteam with the NSFS expansion. Your neighbors will not thank you.
