Looney Labs Unleashes Dog Fluxx, Companion to Bestselling Cat Fluxx
Looney Labs has added a canine counterpart to its popular Cat Fluxx with the release of Dog Fluxx, which hit retail stores on March 3, 2026.
What Makes Dog Fluxx Different?
Like all Fluxx games, Dog Fluxx starts with simple rules—draw one card, play one card—but evolves as players add new rules, change goals, and trigger various actions. This dog-themed version features eleven different dog breeds as Keeper cards, along with dog-centric goals like going for walks, finding sticks, and chasing balls. Players will also encounter challenges like scary noises and strangers at the door.
According to CEO Kristin Looney, the game serves as the natural companion to Cat Fluxx, one of the company’s bestsellers. “Whether you are a cat person or a dog person, these cuddly Fluxx friends bring the fun to game night,” Looney stated in the press release.
Game designer and co-founder Andy Looney noted that while the game includes eleven dog breeds, players whose favorites didn’t make the cut can use the “Name a Breed” New Rule card, which rewards players for naming breeds that haven’t been mentioned yet in the game.
The Fluxx Legacy
Looney Labs first released Fluxx in 1996. Since then, the ever-changing card game has grown into a franchise with over 40 different versions and numerous expansions. Originally designed for 2-6 players, all versions of Fluxx can now also be played solo using online rules available on the Looney Labs website.
The game’s appeal lies in its constantly shifting gameplay. As cards are played, they can alter how many cards players draw, how many they play, how many they can hold, and even what conditions are needed to win. Goals change mid-game, forcing players to adapt their strategies on the fly.
Dog Fluxx is now available at retail stores. For more information about Looney Labs games, visit the Looney Labs website or sign up for their newsletter.
